Cleaver Brooks is looking for a Welder to join our team in Thomasville, GA. The Welder will fabricate, layout, position, align and fit parts of structural metal.

Job Location: Thomasville, GA

Shift Details: Night Shift – Monday-Thursday, 4:30 p.m.-3:00 a.m. 

Essential functions:

  • Must know and understand how to use the system for time keeping system.
  • Must be proficient with cutting torch and be able to carbon arc gouge.
  • Must be able to use and read measuring devices such as tape measures, level, etc.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and work from blueprints and/or process sheets.
  • Must display basic welding skills and show willingness and desire to learn welding trade.
  • Within given time frame must be able to pass basic ASME certification tests.
  • Must know, understand, and abide by all plant safety rules and regulations.

Other Duties:

  • Perform any other job duties as directed by Cell Leader or Foreman

Basic Requirements:

Education: High school education or GED equivalent preferred. Must have good reading, writing and math skills. Technical training at an accredited school preferred.

Experience:  Technical training from an accredited school or six (6) months of related welding experience.

Decision-Making Responsibilities: Trainee position that requires very limited decision-making. All questions should be directed to trainer, Cell Leader or Foreman.

Physical Skill & Effort & Working Conditions and Hazards:  

Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. chest high on a regular basis. Must be able to work up to 12 hours standing and walking on hard cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat and climb ladders up to 8 feet high. Will require working in areas up to 15 feet from the ground. Must be able to climb stairs and work in temperature ranges corresponding with the outside ambient temperatures.

Must be able to access all areas of the plant both inside and outside. Will be exposed to noise, dust, and dirt, welding fumes and machine lubricants and/or oils. Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes and fall protection.
