Job description

SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director/Unit Chief, provides comprehensive clinical services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This includes the evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with a wide range of psychiatric and physical/environmental stressors using a full range of psychiatric therapeutic interventions, including evaluations, and individual, family, and group psychotherapy. This individual also reports to the Clinical Director of Social Work and Counseling regarding professional standards, regulatory and licensing requirements, credentials/privileges, and continuing education.

RESPONSIBILITIES Provide individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and mental health evaluations. Participate in treatment planning to set therapeutic goals in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Participate in the execution of the treatment plan goals as they pertain to the therapeutic aspects of the patient/family care.

Complete all required documentation in a professional and timely manner, as assigned. Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families/guardians regarding diagnosis, treatment interventions, and recommendations as relevant. Clinical case management as required to coordinate and collaborate in care with both the multidisciplinary team and community supports (schools, therapists, physicians, etc.) for assessment, communication, and aftercare planning

Provide clinical supervision and work direction to social work staff, social work interns, and others as assigned. Coordinate work assignment of employees/interns and ensure adequate coverage for clinical area of responsibility. Communicate policy and procedures to area personnel.

Provide input on hiring, employee work performance, and evaluations. May participate in counseling of supervisees around performance issues. Participate in developing schedules, coverage plans, and employee work schedules and in coordinating patient access to services and programs by maintaining master schedules.

Participate in service-related meetings including but not limited to team meetings, rounds, clinical conferences, community meetings, staff meetings, and in-service. From a program development or administrative perspective, provide social work consultation within and outside the hospital. May participate in research or other specialized activities as arranged with supervisor.

Attend Social Work and Counseling Department staff meetings and meet all related responsibilities. Demonstrate conduct which exemplifies the professional Code of Ethics. Attend supervision as required.

May provide supervision of social work/counseling students, as assigned. This entails: Providing reliable, high-quality supervision of trainees, as assigned and appropriate. Participating in teaching of trainees, as assigned and appropriate.

Maintaining active faculty status if it is appropriate/required for assigned trainees. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS QUALIFICATIONS Masters' degree in any human services field required, such as social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology from an accredited graduate school.

Current independent license from State of Rhode Island required (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT). Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. Minimum of 5 years clinical experience with children, adolescents, and families preferably in a health or mental health setting with an emphasis on populations served in the assigned area.

Experience in supervision, program development, or administration required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Will supervise social work staff, social work interns, and others as assigned as appropriate, an average of 5, for clinical service area.
