Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Layout Technician / Construction Surveyor to join our team. This individual will be responsible for performing electrical construction layout using Trimble robotic total stations and GNSS equipment on large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects. The ideal candidate will assist with accurate field layout, point staking, as-built collection, and coordination with project management and field operations to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities

Perform construction layout for electrical installations using robotic total stations and GNSS equipment

Layout underground conduit, equipment pads, embeds, stub-ups, electrical rooms, transformers, skids, and other electrical infrastructure

Collect and document as-built information throughout project duration

Import and export points, models, and drawings using Trimble software platforms

Verify layout accuracy using project control and survey benchmarks

Read and interpret construction drawings, CAD backgrounds, and electrical plans

Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, BIM/VDC teams, and general contractors

Maintain survey equipment and ensure proper calibration and care of all instruments

Assist with project setup, localization, and control verification using GNSS systems

Communicate layout discrepancies or field conflicts to management in a timely manner

Follow all company safety standards and jobsite requirements

Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction layout, electrical layout, or land surveying

Experience operating robotic total stations and GNSS equipment preferred

Familiarity with Survey  equipment and software is strongly preferred

Ability to read and understand construction drawings and site plans

Basic understanding of coordinate systems, control points, and field measurements

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in the field

Ability to work outdoors in varying jobsite conditions

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred

Preferred Experience

Experience with Trimble Field Link, Trimble Access, or Trimble Connect

Electrical construction experience is a plus

Experience working on commercial, industrial, or data center projects

Knowledge of as-built documentation and point management workflows
