Maintenance Technician I

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

  1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
  1. The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for support troubleshooting, and repairs on all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC/Electrical related issues. This position requires a high level of responsibility towards keeping the automated industrial control systems current, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  1. KEY AREAS OF ACTIVITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
  1. Demonstrate thorough understanding of industrial control systems and Programmable Logic Computers (PLC's)
  2. Implement 5S concepts and tools.
  3. Effectively maintain programming, hardware networking and communication; troubleshoot, determine causes of failure, and perform corrective actions.
  4. Preform predictive and preventative maintenance program and other internal projects assigned by the maintenance lead.
  5. Diagnose and correct PLC problems to minimize downtime.
  6. Diagnose, repair and or replace electrical components of machines including but not limited to motors, relays, overloads, cables, switches, sensor, and variable speed drives.
  7. Ensure maintenance and repair work is completed safely, effectively, and in a timely manner.

  2. SKILLS NEEDED
    1. 2 year or 4-year degree in an Industrial maintenance program or Industrial Technology.
    2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience troubleshooting, repairing, programming, and installing electrical control equipment in a manufacturing environment.
    3. 2-4 years maintenance mechanical experience
    4. 5 years PLC and HMI programming experience
    5. Factory training in Allen Bradley PLC’s is preferred.
    6. Familiarity with ABB robots.
    7. Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate the following properly and safely: control panels using relay logic, Cam-driven switch boxes, process control valves, pneumatic control systems, hydraulic control systems, electronic scaling systems, electronic meters.
    8. Ability to interface with and troubleshoot PLC's including connecting to the PLC, reading ladder logic, diagnosing hardware and software problems.
    9. Ability to interface with and troubleshoot the following motor control equipment properly and safely: motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs); Servo motors and controls.
    10. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel.
    11. Skills with pneumatic and hydraulic applications required.
    12. Welding and fabrication skills is a plus.
    13. Tooling and die skills is a plus.
