Job description

Quanex is looking for an Extruder Operator Trainee to join our Lamination team located in Winnebago, Illinois.

The Extruder Operator Trainee works as part of a small team, to run and maintain assigned lamination machines to produce quality window and door parts, wrapping profiles, in accordance with customer specifications with minimal waste.

This department typically works 6:45 am - 3:15 pm, Monday - Friday. The team frequently works OT during the week and on Saturdays.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Attending work on time and for scheduled hours each day.
  • Identifying the proper material requirements for producing finished product.
  • Referring to the schedule for mitering material for proper cut lengths.
  • Performing quality checks while maintaining strict tolerances.
  • Changing out fixtures in a timely manner to maintain steady production.
  • Identifying defects, ways to prevent defects from occurring, ensuring defects do not go to the customer.
  • Following all safety procedures, rules and guidelines; and notify supervisor/team lead of any existing or potential safety issues

Your Credentials:

  • High school degree, or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing environment, is preferred.
  • Good reading ability and basic math skills, including the ability to read blueprints and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Good problem resolution skills with the ability to offer solutions for basic issues encountered.
  • Basic computer proficiency with the ability to log into systems and enter data accurately

Starting Salary: $17.50/hour
