NURSE ANESTHESIA FULL TIME FACULTY POSITION

The University of Miami (UM) School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) seeks qualified certified register nurse anesthetist (CRNA) faculty for full- time positions at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Clinical rank.

The mission of SONHS is to transform lives and health care through education, research, innovation, and service across the hemisphere. The School houses several notably ranked and accredited academic programs, including baccalaureate degrees in nursing science, public health, and the health sciences, as well as master's programs, post-master's certificates, and doctoral programs, including the PhD (Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science) and DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice).

The BSN-DNP Anesthesia Program is a fully accredited Program providing extensive clinical rotation experiences in South Florida's tri-county communities with over twenty-three foundation and enrichment sites. The team of faculty are nationally recognized experts in regional anesthesia, virtual reality innovations, diversity/peer mentorship, and are certified health care simulation educators (CHSE). The current board certification pass rate is an exceptional 95 to 100 percent on first attempt. SONHS has a fully equipped and operational 5-story, 41,000-square-foot, cutting-edge Simulation Hospital, offering dedicated space for nurse anesthesia trainees, including 4 operating rooms. A global destination center for simulation-based education, research, and service, the simulation facility replicates the true flow of activities in a clinical and hospital practice (see https://share.sonhs.miami.edu/building-features/index.html).

Qualifications:

  • PhD or other Doctorate Degree in Nursing or related field, certification to practice as a CRNA, and current APRN/RN license.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in clinical practice, and a teaching portfolio in graduate nursing anesthesia education

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct didactic, simulation, and clinical teaching and academic/clinical advising of students in the doctoral nurse anesthesia program.
  • Pursue and collaborate in scholarship and research activities and publish scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate in community and academic service activities, maintaining relationships with existing partners and assisting in the development of new clinical partners.
  • Contribute to the guidance of students' scholarly projects within courses and to the development of curriculum and course activities (e.g., course coordination, course evaluation materials, simulation development).
  • Participate in the growth and development of the nurse anesthesia program goal(s) and objectives as an active faculty member
  • Disseminate scholarship and research activities at local, state, national, and international levels
