Job description

Why Gravitate?
At Gravitate, we're on a mission to put everyday supply and logistics decisions in motion, powered by innovative problem-solving from industry experts.
A lot of companies say it. We mean it: Gravitate is different. Rooted in the spirit of collaboration, we thrive on the smarts of our people and the dynamic we've cultivated.
Tell Me About My Job:
If you are considering this role, you are someone who is passionate about the front-end user experience and has a proven track record of delivering elegant, intuitive web-based UIs for enterprise applications. You enjoy coaching and guiding new and junior teammates to become thoughtful, self-starting contributors who have a growing impact on the organization.
Specifically, you will help us evolve and maintain our product using React and TypeScript along with other front-end technologies. In this role, you will be a member of an agile product team tasked with optimizing the gas station supply chain, powered by AI and industry-shaking UX.
Our developers and designers are the driving force behind our product's success and are very influential in decision-making. We hire creative people and give them the autonomy to do great work. We're strongly against artificial separations of responsibility and throwing work "over the wall"; instead, we constantly optimize around the highest and best use of our resources.
You're an Ideal Candidate If:
  • You have 6+ years of front-end development experience, particularly with React or other frontend web frameworks.
  • You are comfortable working in and contributing to a TypeScript codebase and are proficient with advanced TypeScript concepts.
  • Have experience working with React Native, Expo, and are generally comfortable with cross platform native development.
  • You understand the power and challenges of the React ecosystem, including state management solutions, component reuse, and performance.
  • You have strong experience working with REST APIs and managing server state in React, particularly with react query.
  • You are experienced with CSS and modern styling approaches in JS frameworks.
  • You have experience organizing and managing a reusable component library for multiple codebases.
  • You are comfortable managing pull requests, utilizing code reviews as teaching opportunities, and handling git management and versioning.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Operate within small, cross-functional pods to drive day-to-day feature development, partnering asynchronously with product owners and designers to rapidly iterate on requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Driving forward our TypeScript initiative and moving us towards 100% type coverage.
  • Develop and maintain a React Native (Expo) in-cab application used daily by our customer's drivers.
  • Curating and maintaining storybook (component documentation) for our shared component library excalibrr.
  • Creating extensible and reusable components that provide significant value across all our products.
  • Assisting in solutioning and architecting large front-end stories that other developers might work on.
  • Exercise creativity and challenge the status quo to improve front-end applications, including the tools, technologies, and approaches we use.
  • Investing in and growing our frontend and software knowledge base, including technical documentation, setup guides, claude rules, etc.

Nice to Have Experience:
  • Experience with a UI component library like AntD or MaterialUI.
  • Experience with translating frontend applications with i18n.
  • Experience with LLM / agentic coding tools like Claude Code or Github Copilot
  • Familiarity with AG Grid.
  • Knowledge of @tanstack/react-query.
  • Experience with our backend stack (Python, MongoDB, Kubernetes)
  • Experience working with Docker and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience building and maintaining large-scale, enterprise SPAs.
  • Experience owning and maintaining npm packages and dealing with the challenges of using them across multiple applications.
  • Experience with modern testing frameworks (e.g., React Testing Library, Jest, Cypress).
  • Experience with data visualization libraries (Google Maps, D3, Highcharts, or Nivo).
  • An advocate for building beautiful, usable products, with a strong emphasis on design and user experience throughout the software lifecycle.

About the Gravitate team:
To understand who our people are, you should first understand what they're not: replaceable. Each member of the team is chosen carefully and with intention. We believe that finding the right fit is more important than a laundry list of credentials - and that people are people first, and titles second.
Because we hire the Gravitate way, our team is certainly one of a kind. We've brought together incredible talent that regularly collaborates to create clean, fresh solutions. That effort has led to remarkable opportunities, including work with many Fortune 500 clients. We've found that the winning combination of exciting achievements, trust in one another and open communication lays the groundwork for long-lasting, successful careers. That, and the fact that we clap for each other at every opportunity.
Problem solvers, go-getters and charge-takers - we (really) want to hear from you.
