Position Summary

The Junior Electrical Engineer supports the design, development, testing, and documentation of electrical products and systems used in data center critical infrastructure such as power products, monitoring/controls, and related assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of low voltage power distribution products and assemblies used in data centers (e.g., custom power cables, busway/tap boxes, PDUs/RPPs, switchgear).
  • Create and revise electrical drawings for schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs using SolidWorks or other similar CAD tools .
  • Support engineering calculations and selections (e.g. load/heat rise basics as applicable, short-circuit coordination inputs, conductor sizing, protective devices, breaker settings inputs, and component derating).
  • Participate in product testing and troubleshooting (e.g., continuity/hi-pot/insulation resistance).
  • Review customer specifications, submittals, and internal design packages for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, firmware/software (as applicable), manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and project management.
  • Support field activities as needed, installation questions, and manufacturing/troubleshooting support.
  • Maintain organized project and product documentation and drawings, test reports, and compliance records; assist with technical manuals and installation instructions.
  • Follow applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, IEEE) and support certification/compliance efforts (e.g., UL/CSA) as applicable.
  • Assist with design and development of electrical products for Data Center Facilities, ensuring reliability, redundancy, and efficiency.
  • Utilize SolidWorks for effective design and documentation.
  • Apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a variety of assignments in related fields.
  • Make informed and independent decisions regarding engineering methods and techniques.
  • Consult with supervisor on critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters, seeking guidance as needed.
  • Develop test procedures and provide support during the commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Develop comprehensive specifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of relevant engineering experience (internships or co-ops considered).
  • Understanding of electrical fundamentals related to power distribution and controls (AC/DC theory, three-phase systems, protection concepts, grounding/bonding).
  • Familiarity with CAD/design tools and electrical documentation practices (schematics, wiring, BOMs).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to data center electrical infrastructure and product types (UPS systems, PDUs/RPPs, switchgear, busway, monitoring and metering).
  • Internship experience in engineering consulting, construction, or manufacturing.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • May require occasional travel to customer sites, manufacturing partners, testing facilities, or commissioning activities.
  • Office, manufacturing/factory floor, and customer site environments (data centers) as required by projects.
