Job description

The EMOC Coordinator Trainee will be provided with on-the-job training in the 24/7/365 EMOC Command Center under the supervision of a full-time member of the EMOC staff, i.e. a Coordinator, Technician, or Senior Manager. The apprentice program shall consist of 4,160 hours of on-the-job training while attending classes at Local 95 in their off-hours for two years. Under supervision, the trainee will be assisting with and eventually responsible for continuous monitoring of campus wide BAS/EMS networks, systems, and devices, as well as providing supervised coordination and support of any campus infrastructure event or emergency involving Facilities Management. The Trainee will also be trained and expected to participate in job duties including monitoring the operation of building MEP and Utility function through the centralized Building Automation System, reviewing and respond to system alarms by coordinating appropriate field support, responding to any campus situation and/or emergency by contacting appropriate management team members and coordinating support and response activities, receive off hour customer calls placed to Facilities Management and respond accordingly by coordinating and dispatching FM staff.


The EMOC Coordinator Trainee will be required to learn and apply all aspects of the Coordinator's responsibilities in order to complete the program. The full training schedule, as outlined in the Local 95 - 95A CBA, consists of (4) six-month steps. Placement within schedule is based on experience. Any person selected to be a Trainee from within or from outside the University shall be on a probationary status for 6 months. Following successful completion of the Coordinator Trainee program days and hours worked will convert to Rotating shifts as assigned.
