Job description

Infection Prevention Nurse

ALIYA of Palos Park is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Infection Prevention Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control programs to ensure the safety of residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's infection prevention and control program

  • Conduct ongoing surveillance of infections, outbreaks, and infection trends; analyze data to identify risks and implement preventive measures

  • Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention, hand hygiene, isolation protocols, and standard precautions

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, including CMS, CDC, and state health departments

  • Investigate and respond to infection outbreaks, including reporting and coordinating mitigation strategies

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote safe practices and reduce infection rates

  • Perform audits, assessments, and inspections to ensure adherence to infection control standards

  • Maintain accurate records of infection control activities and prepare reports for leadership

  • Stay updated on evidence-based practices and emerging trends in infection prevention

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in Illinois

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care, skilled nursing, or acute care

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred

  • Knowledge of infection control principles, epidemiology, and regulatory requirements

  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to educate, influence, and lead staff in infection prevention practices
