Job description

Zions is seeking an experienced International Relationship Manager (Spanish fluency required) to join our International Banking team in Houston, TX. This role focuses on building and managing commercial relationships with companies engaged in international trade, while ensuring risk mitigation and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
International Banking is a full-service lending group specializing in financing solutions for exporters, importers, U.S. subsidiaries of foreign parent companies, and international corporates.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships while ensuring a high standard of service and prudent risk management.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned new and existing commercial clients.
  • Drive business development efforts through referrals, existing client relationships, and internal partnerships.
  • Originate and deliver Trade Finance solutions, including
    • EXIM Bank programs
    • Foreign Direct Investment
    • Trade Cycle Finance
    • Supply Chain Finance
    • Credit-Insured Lending
    • Export Trade Services
    • Letters of Credit
    • Foreign Exchange
  • Conduct portfolio reviews, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations to enhance client satisfaction and portfolio performance.
  • Manage all aspects of the sales and underwriting process, including financial analysis, credit structuring, client due diligence, and character assessment.
  • Cross-sell and refer appropriate banking products and services to meet client needs.
  • Partner closely with Portfolio Managers, Credit Officers, Compliance Officers, and executive management to support portfolio growth while maintaining strong credit quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial banking, financial services sales, or a related client-facing commercial lending role.
    • Experience with Trade Finance, Foreign Direct Investment companies, EXIM Bank lending , or other credit-enhanced financing solutions preferred.
    • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of commercial lending, letters of credit, credit analysis, treasury management, and depository services,
    • Completion of a formal commercial credit training program preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other business productivity applications.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to develop trusted advisory relationships with clients, prospects, and centers of influence.
    • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
    • Proven business development experience with a track record of identifying opportunities and growing client relationships.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and client service.
  • Language:
    • Fluency in Spanish required.
