Job Title: Extrusion Machine Operator

Job Description

Join a modern, climate-controlled manufacturing facility as an Extrusion Machine Operator, where you will set up, operate, and adjust plastic extrusion machinery to produce high-quality products. You will handle rolls of raw plastic material using a stand-up forklift, perform routine quality checks, and support smooth production through accurate documentation and collaboration with lead operators.

Responsibilities

• Load rolls of raw plastic material into industrial extrusion machinery using a stand-up forklift.
• Assist with machine start-up, shutdown, product changeovers, and material changes to ensure efficient production.
• Set up plastic extrusion machinery according to production specifications and work instructions.
• Monitor machine performance throughout the shift and promptly notify lead operators of any process or equipment issues.
• Make necessary adjustments to extrusion machinery to maintain proper operating conditions and product quality.
• Perform detailed quality checks using gauges, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and visual inspection to verify products meet specifications.
• Record production data, quality results, and downtime information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Troubleshoot basic machine issues and support continuous improvement of the extrusion process.
• Follow blueprints and production documentation to ensure correct setup and output.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating or assisting with plastic extrusion machinery or similar industrial equipment.
• Ability to safely operate a stand-up forklift to move and load rolls of raw material.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand machine functions and make basic adjustments.
• Basic math and measurement skills to read and interpret dimensions accurately.
• Ability to use gauges, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools for quality inspection.
• Comfort with reading and following blueprints or technical drawings.
• Attention to detail and commitment to performing consistent quality inspections.
• Ability to monitor machine performance and identify potential issues promptly.
• Strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to facility procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as an extrusion operator, machine setup technician, or similar role in manufacturing.
• Experience with roll forming or handling large rolls of material in a production environment.
• Experience in troubleshooting industrial machinery to minimize downtime.
• Familiarity with recording production and quality data in logs or electronic systems.
• Ability to work effectively on multiple shifts and adapt to product changeovers and material changes.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean, well-lit, climate-controlled manufacturing facility in Richmond, IN. You will work around plastic extrusion machinery, industrial equipment, and stand-up forklifts, following established safety and housekeeping standards. The environment emphasizes organization, consistent quality checks, and accurate documentation, providing a professional and comfortable setting for multiple shift operations.

This is a Permanent position based out of Richmond, IN.

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $52000.00/yr.
