Overview: The Paint Preparation Technician-Trainee is an entry level/trainee position. As a "Trainee" you will work under complete supervision. Provide assistance, learn the basics of preparing parts and components for the painting process, learn to operate various tools and equipment commonly used; in addition to: learning to read and interpret manufacturing drawings (customer drawings/blue prints), the policies, procedures and processes used at Athena, and the importance of safety awareness.


Key Responsibilities: (include but not limited to): Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Check equipment for proper operation, safety and or needed maintenance.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines as scheduled and/or required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, methods, and sequence of operation.
  • Measure ingredients or substances to create specific finishes.
  • Operate painting and coating equipment.
  • Examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Accurately document completion of work/operations in Shop Floor Manager and/or ERP system.
  • Coordinate with lead to ensure product paper work is accurate and complete.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner.
  • Perform other jobs or functions assigned by manager/supervisor.


Requirements:

Qualifications: Minimum Preferred Qualifications, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED; preferred
  • (2) two years of consistent working experience. Related experience a plus.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential physical requirements pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

  • Arm-Hand Steadiness- The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Visual Color Discrimination- The ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness
  • Near Vision- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Far Vision- The ability to see details at a distance.
  • Trunk Strength- The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
  • Extent Flexibility- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Stamina- The ability to exert yourself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
