Academic Pediatric Surgeon Opportunity in Southern California
Assistant/Associate Professor of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery
Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group
Position Overview:
The Department of Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Medicine is seeking a fellowship trained pediatric surgeon to join our team for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Surgery.
This individual would be joining five other surgeons in a busy academic practice at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital (LLUCH), a 242-bed children's hospital that supports an ACGME approved pediatric surgery fellowship program.
Currently, LLUCH is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with a 26-bed emergency room, an 84-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 25-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, a large volume of oncology patients, a substantial number of index cases and full sub-specialty support. There are approximately 1.2 million children in our referral base, which covers one fourth of the state of California, and is currently one of the fastest growing population centers in the country.
The applicant must have a commitment to research and education, and will work closely with medical students, surgical residents, and fellows. The Division oversees a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Program as well as a Pediatric Surgery Clinical Research Scholar Program for research residents interested in pediatric surgery. Our department has a funded basic science laboratory focusing on necrotizing enterocolitis and related neonatal conditions and welcomes individuals with related interests. In addition, our group anticipates the opening of a fetal surgery center this fall.
All surgeons in the group enjoy a busy clinical practice with emphasis on advanced minimal invasive neonatal and pediatric procedures as well as robotic surgery. In addition, as a level 1 trauma center we cover all pediatric trauma and we are a EMCO center of excellence.
Faculty with interests in global surgery can participate in the division's robust global surgery offerings including activities of the division's non-profit Global Pediatric Specialist Alliance and the Loma Linda University Health Center for Global Surgery

Compensation & Benefits
The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank: $425,000 - $525,000. This amount does not include variable compensation/incentive pay and is subject to the department compensation plan. Further details regarding compensation are available and can be reviewed during the recruitment process.
