Our team is dedicated to thoughtful risk management, strong client relationships, and building a bank designed for the future of financial services.
The Role
The Director, Application Development will be responsible for the Bank's overall application development strategy and software engineering function. This individual will oversee internal application development, enterprise architecture, AI initiatives, data platform strategy, and technology innovation across the organization.
This role will serve as a key partner to executive leadership and business stakeholders, ensuring that technology investments deliver operational efficiency, scalability, security, and measurable business value.
Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the Bank's application development and software engineering strategy.
  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and support of internal applications and digital platforms.
  • Establish the Bank's software engineering standards, coding practices, quality standards, and development methodologies.
  • Lead the adoption and continuous improvement of Agile, DevSecOps, and other modern software delivery practices.
  • Develop and implement the Bank's AI, automation, and technology innovation initiatives.
  • Establish the enterprise data platform strategy and oversee related platform architecture.
  • Define enterprise architecture standards, technology governance frameworks, and architectural review processes.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to software engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable technology solutions that meet business needs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and determine their potential to deliver business value.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute the Bank's long-term technology roadmap.
  • Partner with business leaders and executive stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Ensure technology solutions and development practices comply with security, risk management, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Builda high-performing, collaborative engineering organization capable of executing strategic technology initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading software engineering and application development teams.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, data platforms, AI, automation, and modern software development practices.
  • Experience implementing digital transformation, automation, and emerging technology initiatives.
  • Experience establishing software engineering standards, governance frameworks, and development methodologies.
  • Strong communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience within banking, financial services, or another highly regulated industry preferred.
  • Proven ability to build high-performing teams and execute complex, enterprise-wide technology initiatives.

The hiring range for this position is $180,000 to $225,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. A bonus and/or incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, vision, 401k, and other benefits.
