A CNC Router Operator sets up, programs, and runs computer numerical control machines to cut, shape, and drill materials like wood, plastic, and composites. They interpret blueprints, load raw materials, manage tooling, and perform quality checks to produce precision parts while strictly adhering to safety and maintenance protocols.
Core Responsibilities
  • Machine Setup: Calibrate routers, install correct cutting tools (bits), and secure raw materials to the machine bed.
  • Programming & Operation: Load or input CAD/CAM designs, execute routing commands, and adjust feeds and speeds to ensure optimal cuts.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished products using calipers, tape measures, or gauges to verify they meet exact project specifications.
  • Maintenance: Perform daily preventative maintenance, clean the router table, and clear debris to prevent machinery wear.
