CNC Machining Technician

Position Summary

The Machining Technician is responsible for setting up and operating CNC and manual metal fabrication equipment to machine a variety of materials in accordance with specifications, routers, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and workpieces on machines.

  • Set up and operate CNC machines and machining centers to perform cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and related operations.

  • Perform machining operations as specified on routers and work instructions.

  • Load control media and retrieve programmed instructions from the machine controller.

  • Calculate and set machine controls including spindle positioning, cutting depth, speed, feed rate, and coolant flow.

  • Select, install, and maintain cutting tools.

  • Monitor machine operation to ensure safe and efficient performance.

  • Adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.

  • Measure and verify parts meet blueprint, sketch, and specification requirements using appropriate measurement tools.

  • Clean machines and tooling after use.

  • Maintain housekeeping standards and apply 6S principles in work areas.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Follow all quality systems, operating procedures, safety rules, and regulations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years of college or technical school or three years of related machining experience preferred.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and cognitive skills.

  • Ability to read and understand routers, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, manuals, and specifications.

  • Good problem-solving, judgment, and communication skills.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primary work location: Manufacturing floor.

  • Requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling/crouching, climbing, pushing, and pulling.

  • Exposure to noise.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
