Job description

Comfort Systems USA Southwest is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator to join our fabrication team. The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining CNC machinery used in the fabrication of HVAC, plumbing, and piping components. This position plays a key role in producing high-quality parts and assemblies that meet project specifications, production schedules, and company quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC equipment, including plasma tables, pipe cutting machines, drill lines, beam lines, and other automated fabrication equipment.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, work orders, cut sheets, and fabrication specifications.
  • Load materials and verify dimensions, material types, and quantities prior to production.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform routine quality inspections using measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Identify and correct dimensional or quality issues before materials move to the next production stage.
  • Perform machine adjustments, tooling changes, and minor troubleshooting.
  • Maintain production records and complete required documentation accurately.
  • Work closely with detailers, welders, fitters, and production personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Conduct daily machine inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety requirements.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Assist with inventory control and material handling as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, productivity, and fabrication efficiency.
