Shifts Available: 1st Shift (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM) and 2nd Shift (4:30 PM - 3:00 AM), Monday through Friday, 10-hour shifts
Position Summary
STS Technical Services is hiring CNC Machinists (Levels I-IV) in Brookfield, Wisconsin. This role involves the setup, operation, and programming of CNC machines to produce complex components for various industries. Opportunities are available on both 1st and 2nd shifts, and compensation will reflect experience and skill level.
Whether you're just starting out or have advanced machining and programming expertise, we're looking for driven individuals ready to contribute in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Level I - Entry Level CNC Operator:
  • Operate CNC machine tools
  • Inspect parts for conformance to specifications
  • Follow written and verbal job instructions
  • Perform repetitive machining tasks
  • Operate multiple machines in a production cell
  • Understand basic blueprints and perform basic math
  • Maintain reliable attendance

Level II - CNC Operator:
  • Operate CNC machines and make offset adjustments based on setup instructions
  • Assist with machine setups under supervision
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints and inspection protocols
  • Understand GD&T concepts
  • Train or mentor Level I team members

Level III - Intermediate CNC Machinist:
  • Independently set up fully documented repeat jobs
  • Run first pieces to print specifications
  • Perform manual inspections and interpret blueprints at a higher level
  • Edit or create CNC programs
  • Apply advanced math (trigonometry/geometry)
  • Mentor other operators

Level IV - Senior CNC Machinist:
  • Set up complex jobs from scratch and document the process for future runs
  • Perform advanced machining and diagnostics
  • Program or edit machine code
  • Interpret blueprints and GD&T at a high level
  • Lead and mentor CNC Operators and Machinists
  • Operate multiple machines within a production cell

Required Qualifications
Level I:
  • High school diploma required; CNC Technical Diploma preferred
  • Up to 1 year of machining experience
  • Basic computer skills

Level II:
  • High school diploma required; CNC Technical Diploma preferred
  • 2+ years of machining experience
  • Familiarity with CNC tools, software, and machine offsets

Level III & IV:
  • High school diploma required; CNC Technical Diploma preferred
  • 5+ years of machining experience, including programming and advanced setups
  • Ability to independently set up, program, and troubleshoot machines

Skills & Competencies
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong math skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role
  • Strong understanding of blueprints and GD&T (higher levels)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and shop floor software (preferred)

Physical & Environmental Demands
  • Must be able to stand continuously for up to 10 hours
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting (up to 50 lbs occasionally, 30 lbs frequently)
  • Exposure to loud environments, fumes, and mechanical parts
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception
  • Climate-controlled factory environment with occasional exposure to humidity and airborne particles
