Job description

GD Resources LLC is seeking professional, reliable, and customer-service-oriented Security Guards to support operations at various Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare facilities in Wisconsin, including Milwaukee VA Medical Center, Union Grove CBOC, Oconomowoc VA Clinic, and associated locations.

This position supports the safety and security of Veterans, staff, visitors, and government property through monitoring, access control, patrol operations, incident response, and enforcement of VA policies and procedures.

Position Summary

The Security Guard shall provide physical security, access control, monitoring, patrol, emergency response, and customer service functions in accordance with VA regulations, HIPAA/privacy requirements, and site-specific security procedures.

Security personnel will operate in healthcare and residential treatment environments requiring professionalism, vigilance, and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAccess Control & Visitor Management
  • Monitor entry and exit points at assigned facilities
  • Verify authorized access for employees, residents, patients, and visitors
  • Maintain visitor and resident sign-in/sign-out logs
  • Inspect bags, backpacks, purses, and packages for prohibited items or contraband
  • Control resident ID/key management procedures
  • Enforce visiting hour policies and access restrictions
Patrol & Facility Security
  • Conduct hourly interior and exterior patrols
  • Monitor CCTV and alarm systems
  • Identify and report suspicious activity, security violations, or safety concerns
  • Perform clinic walkthroughs before facility closure
  • Support parking enforcement, smoking policy enforcement, and traffic control
Emergency Response
  • Respond to panic alarms and emergency situations
  • Coordinate with VA Police and local law enforcement agencies
  • Report medical emergencies, disruptive behavior, suspicious activity, accidents, and criminal incidents
  • Maintain communication through radio systems and perform hourly radio checks
Documentation & Reporting
  • Complete daily activity logs and incident reports accurately and timely
  • Report equipment malfunctions including cameras, alarms, and communication systems
  • Maintain records in accordance with VA and HIPAA standards
Customer Service
  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to Veterans, visitors, and staff
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • De-escalate situations when appropriate while maintaining safety
Supervisor Responsibilities (Applicable to Lead/Supervisor Positions)
  • Coordinate staffing coverage and employee break schedules
  • Ensure all posts remain properly staffed
  • Conduct inspections and quality assurance reviews
  • Train and cross-train security personnel
  • Maintain communication with VA Police Supervisors
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, uniform, and training requirements
  • Collect and review logs, reports, and documentation
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid State Security Guard License (as applicable)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum recent experience in security, law enforcement, healthcare security, or related field
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Strong communication and incident reporting skills
  • Ability to respond calmly during emergencies
  • Professional appearance and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare or hospital security experience
  • Experience with CCTV, alarm monitoring, and access control systems
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Drug recognition or contraband detection training
  • Prior military or law enforcement experience
