HHM Talent is assisting a client who is searching for a Controller in Chattanooga, TN. Position OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting department and oversee the organization's financial operations. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader who builds strong relationships, takes ownership of responsibilities from start to finish, and approaches challenges with curiosity. This is a full-time, fully on-site position.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee the daily operations of the accounting departmentOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, and cash-management activitiesMaintain the general ledger and review journal entries for accuracy and completenessPrepare and review monthly financial statementsProduce journal entries, financial reports, and profit-and-loss statements by locationEnsure all locations accurately roll up into the organization's consolidated financial resultsTake full ownership of the annual audit, including preparation, coordination, and communication with external auditorsProcess biweekly payroll; payroll tax filings are handled separatelyPrepare and file applicable sales tax returnsAssist leadership with the annual budgeting processMonitor fixed assets and capital spending in relation to approved budgetsEnsure balance-sheet accounts are properly reconciled and supportedProvide oversight and analysis related to applicable cost-accounting activitiesContinue improving accounting operations, including the organization's accounts-payable automation initiativeStrengthen internal controls and ensure consistent accounting practices across all locationsIdentify accounting and business-process improvements and ensure initiatives are completed successfullyCross-train team members to improve coverage, collaboration, and departmental effectivenessQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldProgressive accounting experience, including responsibility for general ledger accounting, financial reporting, audits, and month-end closeStrong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, payroll, sales tax, fixed assets, and balance-sheet reconciliationsExperience supporting a multi-location organization is strongly preferredExposure to cost accounting is preferredExperience with Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains is helpful but not requiredExperience with a comparable ERP system, such as Sage or NetSuite, will also be consideredCompensation and Benefits Base salary: $120,000–$140,000, based on experienceIncentive opportunity: 5% of base salaryHealth and dental insurance401(k) with employer match and profit sharingPaid time off and sick leave
