Job description

Trailer Operator

Olive Recruiting is looking for an experienced trailer operator to join our client's heavy haul team in Houston, TX. In this role you will have the opportunity to get involved in heavy lift and transport projects throughout the region. You will be an important part of the operations team doing specialty moves and lifts with gantry, jack and slide, and other specialized equipment.

Responsibilities

  • You will be an important part of the operations team and will have opportunities to learn new skills, including advanced training on the equipment
  • Loading, unloading, programming, assembling and disassembling equipment, outfitting trailers with auxiliary equipment
  • Operating equipment to manufacturers standard and instructions
  • Able and willing to run escort trucks (we will arrange certification as needed), including serving as the height-pole front escort when required.
  • While on the road, the operator will assist with equipment-related repairs and maintenance, including mechanical work, tire changes, drawbar adjustments, etc.
  • In preparation for transports, the operator will help build, track, and set up trailers in the yard.
  • The operator will review and understand the permits and approved routes for each transport, enabling them to be an active part of the team and help ensure smooth, door-to-door execution.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating SPMT/Modular Hydraulic trailers
  • Situational awareness, excellent communication skills
  • Basic level experience in hydraulics, electrical schemes, mechanics and mathematics - adding lines and power packs
  • OSHA and rigging certification is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to travel frequently and work overtime
