Description:

Toole Design Group in Pittsburgh, PA is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Civil Engineering Manager. This is an opportunity to lead an existing team of talented and inspired engineers delivering roadway reconstruction, trail design, and multimodal projects that improve safety and the public realm throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. If you have proven experience successfully managing a diverse team to deliver highway or roadway projects from concept through final design, on time and on budget, while coordinating with clients, and inspiring and mentoring your team to deliver great work โ€“ we want to talk with YOU!

Youโ€™ll get to work in an environment where collaboration between planners, landscape architects, urban designers, and engineers is expected and encouraged. Weโ€™ll provide you the opportunity to work with a diverse group of clients and project types. Youโ€™ll be leading your team on projects that enhance the natural environment - ranging from complex roadways and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects. All while getting to work for a firm that is committed to the well-being of its employees and is committed to developing a diverse and inclusive team.

This Civil Engineering Manager position earns a competitive salary and great benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, a health savings account (HSA), and a flexible spending account (FSA). All staff receive 8 holidays and earn at least 16 days of PTO over the course of the year. We practice what we preach and ensure that our employees also have access to transportation by providing them with financial incentives to bike, walk, or use transit for a better quality of life.

About Toole Design

Toole Design is the leading engineering, planning, and landscape architecture firm specializing in multimodal transportation. Our talented team of planners, landscape architects and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race or gender. As an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm, we have also been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry.

A Day in the Life of a Civil Engineering Manager

As a Civil Engineering Manager, you will have a key role in the leadership of the Pittsburgh Office of Toole Design. You will collaborate directly with the Regional Design Director by independently pursuing and managing projects from kick-off to construction. You will lead business development and project pursuits, meet with clients and teaming partners, assemble teams, and prepare proposals.

You will manage our existing team of experienced engineers and will have the support of company practice leaders who will encourage your personal growth and assist with project quality control activities. You will be actively engaged in the hiring of staff to grow your team. Your leadership will create a productive and supportive environment for your staff fostering a culture of mentorship to support your team members.

You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects, and you enjoy ensuring deliverables are of the highest quality. You lead, manage, design, and implement streetscape and site development projects that positively and directly affect our communities. You are adept at managing conversations between disciplines, managing client relationships, and delivering projects from concept to construction. You get to learn first-hand from multimodal industry-leading experts while growing as an engineering leader and manager in a company that prefers to promote from within.
