Desired Qualifications:5 years of Journeyman experience as a Highway Transportation System Electrician, installing electrical components associated with:
  • Traffic signal systems
  • Street lighting systems, low and high voltage in series and or multiple grounding systems
  • Electrical service pedestals

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and inspects installation of traffic signals, computerized traffic signal controllers, solid state components, switching equipment, vehicle detectors, emergency preemption devices, time clocks, wiring, conduits, other traffic signal related equipment (including digital and analog), and street lighting systems to ensure that the construction installation is done per the plans and specifications and LACO Traffic Signal Control Equipment Specifications, and that all code requirements are met while using safe work practices.
  • Must have the ability to independently troubleshoot and evaluate maintenance and repair needs of traffic signal equipment and related devices, and propose solutions and upgrades.
  • Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications for traffic signal and street lighting projects.
  • Must be able to inspect and direct Contractors on the proper placement of traffic controls.
  • Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public, elected officials, other agencies, Construction Division staff, and other affected Department Divisions regarding traffic signal problems.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate inspection records, as well as other required documentation.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Department staff, other agencies, contractors, and the public.

Compensation: $70,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year
