What You'll Do:

Performs routine semi-skilled work in the preparation and maintenance of traffic signs and markings.
Assists with street closures for specials events, including the bi-annual Furniture Markets, parades, festivals, etc.
Work is performed under the direction of the Traffic Marking & Signing Supervisor.
Performs other related work as required.

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the installation of traffic signs which involves carrying and raising 50 pounds to head level, climbing ladders, attaching bolts, etc.
  • Assists with installation of thermoplastic lines and markings.
  • Assists with the measuring and laying out of street and traffic markings which require walking, standing and bending over for long periods of time.
  • Assists with placement and removal of temporary traffic control devices used for special events and work zones involving handling 25-pound sandbags and cones weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Assists with painting parking lots involving carrying 50-pound buckets of paint, pushing a portable paint machine and handling traffic cones.
  • Assists with line removal operation involving pushing and pulling portable line grinding machine and carrying 5-gallon buckets.
  • Performs routine maintenance and proper care of tools, equipment, and work area.
  • Drive motor vehicles to and from job sites and to pick up supplies.
  • Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.
