Project Manager - Traffic Engineering
Benesch's Civil and Traffic team delivers impactful transportation solutions that improve mobility, safety, and community connectivity. Our team partners with state DOTs, municipalities, and private clients to design and deliver roadway and traffic projects that shape how people move every day.
As a Traffic Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of roadway and traffic projects from concept through construction. You will manage teams, drive project execution, and play a key role in growing client relationships and expanding our presence in the region. This is a leadership role with real ownership, where your voice, decisions, and expertise directly influence outcomes.
Location
This position is based in Glastonbury, CT, with the option to sit in Boston, MA, and follows a hybrid schedule with regular in office collaboration alongside your team and leadership.
The Impact You Will Have
  • Lead traffic and roadway projects, owning scope, schedule, and budget
  • Develop and execute project work plans from kickoff through delivery
  • Manage and mentor project teams, supporting growth and development of junior staff
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, including local and state agencies such as ConnDOT and MassDOT
  • Coordinate across disciplines to deliver high quality, compliant designs
  • Support business development efforts, including identifying opportunities and contributing to pursuits
  • Represent Benesch at industry events and help strengthen our presence in the market
What We Are Looking For
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (CT or MA preferred, or ability to obtain within one year)
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in traffic and roadway design
  • Strong experience with DOT standards (ConnDOT, MassDOT, or similar) and public agency coordination
  • Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and schedules successfully
  • Proficiency with CADD and experience delivering complete, review-ready plan sets
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Ability to work independently, lead teams, and drive projects forward #LI-MM1

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the State of Connecticut Pay Transparency Laws. See below links. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary, overtime, and bonuses.
