Name of Position: Traffic Supervisor
Reports to: Quality Manager
Summary:
The Traffic Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all shipping, receiving, and internal material flow activities. This role ensures timely and accurate movement of materials in and out of the facility while leading the traffic team and coordinating with production, purchasing, and carriers to support efficient operations.
- Core Activities:
- Supervise daily shipping, receiving, and traffic operations
- Lead and support Traffic Clerks and warehouse support staff
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers and freight companies
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of shipping and receiving documentation
- Monitor material flow between production, warehouse, and shipping areas
- Resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, and delivery issues
- Ensure accurate inventory transactions and system updates (ERP/MIS)
- Prioritize shipments based on production and customer requirements
- Communicate with production, purchasing, and quality teams to support workflow
- Oversee loading and unloading activities to ensure safety and accuracy
- Enforce all safety procedures and warehouse standards (including 5S)
- Train, coach, and develop traffic and shipping team members
- Monitor performance metrics such as shipping accuracy and on-time delivery
- Maintain organization and efficiency in the shipping/receiving area
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- 3–5+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics operations
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Strong understanding of transportation, shipping, and warehouse operations
- Experience with ERP or inventory management systems
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Basic understanding of manufacturing flow and scheduling
