Apex is hiring a Staff Traffic Engineer to join our Traffic team in Vancouver, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals to develop technical expertise while working on a diverse range of projects.

Our Greater Washington Division is home to three offices located in Walla Walla, Richland, and Vancouver, bringing together a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team. Our professionals span Civil and Transportation Engineering, Environmental Services, Land Surveying and Landscape Architecture allowing us to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions to a diverse client base. Primary Job Responsibilities:
ย  ย Support traffic engineering tasks under the guidance of project managers and senior engineers
ย  ย Assist with traffic studies, including traffic impact analyses, intersection operations, and corridor evaluations
ย  ย Perform basic traffic analysis (e.g., level of service, capacity, and queuing) using standard tools
ย  ย Help develop traffic control plans, including signage, striping, and signal layouts
ย  ย Contribute to preparation of construction documents for roadway and transportation projects
ย  ย Assist with traffic signal timing and operational improvements
ย  ย Coordinate with team members and support communication with clients and agencies
ย  ย Utilize tools such as Synchro, HCS, and Autodesk Civil 3D

Required Qualifications:
ย  ย Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (transportation/traffic focus preferred)
ย  ย Basic knowledge of traffic engineering principles and analysis methods
ย  ย Strong communication and problem-solving skills
ย  ย Ability to manage multiple tasks in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
ย  ย Internship or coursework in traffic/transportation engineering
ย  ย Familiarity with Synchro, HCS, or similar tools
ย  ย Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D
ย  ย EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year
