Job description

We are in need of Slurry Truck Equipment Operators for our VSS International, Inc job in South Lake Tahoe for a 2 week project during the summer months. This opportunity is contingent upon being awarded the project.

The ideal candidate will possess a Class A license with a tanker & HazMat endorsement. Be a safe, hardworking, team-oriented person who is ok with working outdoors and some travel.

Duties will include labor, preventative maintenance on equipment, and daily inspections.

Essential Duties

  • Operate slurry truck systems, including the pugmill and rear spreader box, to control material mixing and application
  • Apply asphalt slurry at specified widths, depths, and coverage rates to meet project specifications
  • Monitor slurry mix consistency and adjust material flow, speed, and application settings as neededPerform pretrip and posttrip inspections of slurry truck and related equipment
  • Clean slurry truck tanks, lines, hoses, and spreader box after each job or shiftConduct routine lubrication and minor maintenance; report mechanical issues or needed repairsCoordinate with roadway crew members, flaggers, and supervisors during slurry operations
  • Assist with manual labor and setup when equipment is not in operation, as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures, traffic control plans, and DOT/OSHA regulations while working in live traffic areasWork outdoors in varying weather conditions and around hot materials and moving equipmen

Qualifications

  • Must have good communications skills both written and verbal to interact with internal and external drivers and customers.
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects utilizing organizational skills and communications skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility regarding timely and accurate completion of work, and a strong commitment to company goals.
  • Must be capable of functioning under fast paced, stressful working conditions.
  • Prior pavement preservation experience is helpful.
  • Valid Class A driver's license in good standing.
