Job description

Alter Trading is looking for a Leader with direct Auto Shredder Experience in metal recycling who has the ability to inspire and motivate their team.

ABOUT THE JOB:

Under the direction of the Regional Director of Operations, responsible for all activities including planning, maintenance, staffing, training and operation associated with the safe and efficient functioning of the North Little Rock, AR facility.

  • Oversees shredding, ferrous, non-ferrous and transportation departments
  • Interacts with customers on a regular basis to maintain excellent relationships with both commercial and retail customers.
  • Ability to grade and price scrap; may issue payment to customers as needed
  • Supervises employees including hiring, discipline, and terminations as necessary
  • Maintains company safety and environmental objectives and standards; maintains ISO and OSHA compliance requirements
  • Supervises building and equipment maintenance and replacement needs
  • Manages cost and expenditures; takes action to meet or exceed budgeted targets for yard volume, net profit and ROI
  • Prepares and monitors annual budgets and monthly operating reports
  • Operates yard equipment, performs light equipment maintenance etc.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned or directed.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Previous experience in Shredder Operations is Preferred.
  • 5 years industry experience including supervisory experience.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, management or other related area, preferred
  • Must have excellent open communication style to carry out ongoing dialogues in a way that creates trust and confidence within all levels of the company as well as with external vendors and customers.
  • Preferred Experience: Background in non-ferrous (NF) and ferrous metals, shredders, supervisory or leadership roles, inventory management, equipment operation, or operations/team lead/manager positions
  • Ability to travel occasionally to other facilities or customers as needed. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
