Purpose of the role
To maintain the smooth and efficient operation of our trading desks, providing operational support and expertise to traders, sales professionals, and other key stakeholders, helping them maximize their productivity and minimize disruptions and handling administrative tasks, and providing market information and research.
Accountabilities
  • Provision of immediate and efficient technical support to traders and sales professionals on the trading desks, resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues to ensure uninterrupted trading activities.
  • Coordination of trade execution by liaising with traders, clients, and other internal teams to ensure smooth transactions.
  • Maintenance and updating of trade records, transaction logs, and client databases accurately.
  • Reports, presentations, and documentation preparation to support sales and trading activities.
  • Monitoring of market data and assist in the analysis of financial information for trading decisions.
  • Operational tasks such as processing trades, confirming orders, and resolving trade discrepancies.

Join Barclays as a Trader Assistant, AVP, where you will support the day-to-day post-trade operations of the Trading Desk by ensuring executed trades are accurately captured, processed, and monitored throughout the trade lifecycle. You will Investigate and resolve trade exceptions, coordinate with Customer service, Trading, Technology, Middle Office, Settlements, and other internal stakeholders to ensure timely issue resolution, and maintain the smooth flow of transactions through downstream systems. You will provide operational support in a fast-paced trading environment while guiding multiple priorities, ensuring data accuracy, and contributing to the efficient execution of trading activities.
To be successful as a Trader Assistant, AVP, you should have experience with:
  • Supporting Trade Support, Trading Assistant, Middle Office, Settlements, or other post-trade operations functions within Capital Markets
  • Coordinating the trade lifecycle, including post-execution trade processing, operational workflows, and settlement activities
  • Using advanced Excel to collect data and support day-to-day operational processes
  • Collaborating with Trading, Marketing, Technology, and Operations teams while building stakeholder relationships
  • Solving operational issues, handling competing priorities, and working accurately in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Some other highly valued skills may include:
  • Experience supporting Equities, Delta One, Synthetic, or Prime Services trading desks
  • Knowledge of VBA, Excel Macros, or process automation tools to improve operational efficiency
  • Exposure to multiple asset classes or experience working in international financial markets
