We are seeking an experienced Aladdin Application Support Engineer to join our Trading Technology team, providing L2/L3 production support for Aladdin platform across front office trading and portfolio construction workflows. The ideal candidate has hands-on Aladdin front office experience, strong SQL skills, and a solid understanding of trading operations including FIX connectivity, broker mapping, and batch processing. This role works closely with front office users, trading desks, and support teams to resolve incidents, manage batch cycles, and ensure smooth day-to-day trading operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide L2/L3 application support for the Aladdin platform, covering front office trading, order management, and portfolio construction workflows.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in Aladdin batch processing cycles (Green Package and related batch jobs), ensuring timely completion and escalating failures as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve trade execution and connectivity issues by analyzing FIX logs and message flows between Aladdin, brokers, and execution venues.
  • Manage and troubleshoot broker mapping and static data setup within Aladdin to support accurate trade routing and settlement.
  • Act as the primary liaison with support and client service teams to log, track, and drive resolution of platform issues, enhancement requests, and release-related queries.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to investigate data issues, support root-cause analysis, and produce ad hoc reports for trading and operations stakeholders.
  • Partner directly with front office users (portfolio managers, traders, and trading assistants) to understand issues, gather requirements, and provide timely, clear resolutions.
  • Support incident, problem, and change management processes, including documentation of root cause analysis and resolution steps.
  • Participate in Aladdin release testing, upgrades, and regression testing cycles, validating front office and trading functionality.
  • Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives to reduce recurring incidents and manual intervention.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Working knowledge of Aladdin batch processing, including the Green Package and end-of-day/overnight batch cycles.
  • Strong SQL skills for data investigation, troubleshooting, and query writing (Oracle/SQL Server or similar).
  • Practical experience reading and interpreting FIX protocol logs to troubleshoot order and execution issues.
  • Experience with broker mapping and static/reference data setup in a trading platform.
  • Solid understanding of the trading lifecycle and trading domain concepts (order management, execution, settlement).
  • Proven experience providing L2/L3 application support, including incident triage, root cause analysis, and escalation management.
  • Experience coordinating directly with BlackRock (or equivalent vendor) support teams on platform issues and releases.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience supporting front office users such as traders and portfolio managers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for business users.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with portfolio construction and order management concepts.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Exposure to scripting or automation tools (e.G., Python, shell scripting) for support tooling.
