Job Description:
Experienced accountant to perform trading desk accounting processes, monthly close, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset, strong analytical skills, and proven accounting ability. Role will report directly to the Accounting Manager in Houston, Texas.
Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of financial accounting
  • Understanding of commodity trading business
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical skills with proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to independently research and analyses; discuss conclusions with senior management
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Team oriented with willingness to train colleagues

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly economic to accounting Profit & Loss statement reconciliations
  • Account for commodity trading transactions (purchases, sales, costs).
  • Validate AR/AP balances for assigned trade desks/commodities
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency with trading system data
  • Laise with Front/Middle Office and Operations to ensure accuracy, and consistency of reported figures
  • Review balance sheet, cash movements, and working capital for assigned desks
  • Quarterly / Year-end
  • Participate in Quarter End reporting activities
  • Compile pertinent data for management reporting and financial statements
  • Participate in Year End audit and financial statement preparation, as needed
