Position Title: Journeyperson Welder

Role Type: Permanent/ Local Position (Non-Camp/Non-FIFO)

Location: Syncrude Basemine, Fort McMurray, Alberta

Work Schedule: 6 on, 6 off; 12-hour day and night shifts

What I will be doing?
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.

  • Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces using processes such as gas tungsten arc (TIG or GTAW), gas metal arc (MIG or GMAW), flux-cored arc (FAW), plasma arc (PAW), shielded metal arc (SMAW), oxy-acetylene (OAW).

  • Operate flame-cutting equipment, and metal shaping machines.

  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.

  • Operate setup welding machines for repair and / or fabrication of bucket and metal parts.

  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipment.

What does Acden need from me? 
  • Alberta Certified Journeyperson Welder (or Interprovincial Red Seal) is a requirement.

  • One (1) - five (5) years of experience in the Welding trade is required.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is required.

  • Clearance on drug, alcohol, hearing and physical abilities pre-employment testing is required.

  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or equivalent (or ability to obtain pre-hire) is required.

  • Eligibility to work on the Syncrude site is required.

What are the "nice to haves"?
  • CWB Certification in FCAW/MCAW is preferred.

  • Heavy mining mobile equipment experience is an asset.

  • Experience with shovel buckets is preferred.

  • Experience with truck box is preferred.
