Job description

Warehouse Associate 2nd Shift
Who we are:
Established in 1926, Mutual Trading Co., Inc. was originally a small co-op organization for centralized purchasing of basic import foods to service the needs of the early Japanese immigrant society in Southern California. We've grown nearly 100 years old now, and command a premiere position among Japanese foodservice suppliers, as well as fill a key role as "Culinary Ambassador" promoting Japanese foods worldwide. Currently, we import, manufacture, and distribute over 7,000 Japanese foods, beverages, restaurant equipment and supplies.
We are looking for experienced individuals who can adapt to the super cold working environment. In this important role, you will be responsible for performing warehouse functions in freezer. You will work in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment that continuous progress is highly regarded.

Location: Medley, FL
Hours: Sun - Thu 12pm - 9pm

Essential Job Functions:
  • Picks and assembles customer orders as indicated on the pick list.
  • Coordinates to assemble urgent deliveries to customers.
  • Receives product deliveries and unloads delivery trucks in a timely manner.
  • Inspects received products for damage and volume accuracy and documents accordingly.
  • Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent service.
  • Conducts daily stock checks and reports out of stock and lower inventory to management.
  • Partakes in warehouse upkeep and ensures the stockroom is clean and organized.
  • Complete deliveries as a backup delivery driver.
  • Document, record, and complete driver log when making deliveries.
  • Accurately stocks inventory in the assigned warehouse location and rotates product inventory to maintain a First-IN, First-OUT (FIFO) food storage system.
  • Participate in the warehouse meetings.
  • Attends semiannual inventory count on designated day, possibly on a weekend.
  • Provide logistics support for Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to work without sitting for extended periods of time, including standing and walking.
  • Able to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Able to handle and move up to 165 pounds, assisted frequently.
  • Able to drive for a majority of the daily working hours.
  • Working Conditions.
  • Noise Level: Loud while indoors.

Other Requirements:
  • Conversational-level English required; Business-level English preferred.
  • Conversational-level Spanish preferred.
  • Able to operate forklift and warehouse machinery in compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Able to work holidays, and after-hours as needed.
  • Has and maintains a clean driving record.
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Works efficiently independently and in a team.
  • Adapts to frequent changes in assignments and workload.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 year of general warehousing experience preferred.
  • 1+ years of driver, delivery, and/or freezer experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Possesses basic mathematical knowledge such as counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc.
  • Has strong communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates awareness of proper warehouse safety procedures.
  • Forklift training and/or certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Japanese and Asian foods preferred.
