Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE:  
To lead, direct, develop and coordinate the inbound flow of merchandise from domestic sources to multiple retail distribution centers. This position will monitor and adjust the workflow and staff based on volume and productivity needs.  The inbound flow of merchandise must be provided at an economical level according to Ross service requirements.  This position will interface with carriers, vendors, and Ross departments or divisions as appropriate.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Responsible for the analysis and execution of optimal freight levels for multiple DCs based on budgeted productivity by product class.
    Supervise a staff of 5-7 associates coordinating the inbound supply-chain activity, routing, tracing, network optimization for $30M of transportation expenses annually.
    Develop and implement the transportation plan for inbound domestic freight from Ross vendors to DCs. Provide analysis and support to the inbound group in all areas of inbound transportation, including transportation scheduling, tracking & tracing.  This will be accomplished through analysis and execution of TMS systems. 
    Develop and implement cost savings and/or service improvement programs and provide analytical data to support results.
    Support customer service to multiple divisions with Ross to resolve any Transportation-related issues or problems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
    Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels and departments both within and outside the company.
    High level working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
    Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
    4-6 years' experience in a transportation atmosphere
    4-6 years of supervisory experience
    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in work experience
    Experience with TMS transportation systems
Preferred Qualifications
    College degree in Transportation or Logistics
    7-8 years of transportation operations\staff experience with knowledge of carrier logistics
    7-8 years of supervisory experience
    Experience with hands-on utilization of current supply-chain software applications and systems
    Transportation background within the retail industry
    Strong self-motivation and the ability to work aggressively to complete projects

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. 
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc. 
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.  
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
