Primary Functions of the Track Technician:
The Track Technician is responsible for assembling, repairing, and replacing track components on earth-moving equipment. This role supports shop and field operations and requires a strong commitment to safety, mechanical aptitude, and reliable work habits.
Main Responsibilities of Track Technician:
• Secure machines safely before performing track work
• Remove, install, and adjust rail assemblies and track components
• Operate impact tools and other equipment to service pads, idlers, rollers, and guards
• Clean and prepare components for installation
• Maintain accurate records of time, parts, and materials
• Complete required reports and communicate additional repair needs to management
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Operate company vehicles and follow all safety regulations
• Work varying shifts, including weekends and overtime as needed
Qualifications of Track Technician:
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening/ background checks
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment around shop and job sites
Skills & Experience
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Problem-solving ability and solid time-management
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, schematics, and manuals
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to follow written, verbal, or diagram instructions
• Ability to lift 75+ lbs. and climb onto equipment (3-4 ft)
• Ability to work in varied weather and shop conditions
Work Environment & Physical Demands
• Exposure to changing temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, and moving mechanical parts
• Frequent lifting, climbing, bending, twisting, and use of PPE
• Regular use of hand tools and equipment
