Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Operate TrackSTAR vehicle on roadway (CDL required) and on rail; follow/meet DOT and railway safety rules & regulations.
  • Interface with railroad customers and record, document and communicate daily safety briefings & track & time instructions.
  • Ability to perform preventatative maintence inspections (PM's), troubleshoot and and perform emergency repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components and document all PM's and repairs in CMMS system.
  • Recognize track events such as switches, bridges, crossings, mileposts, etc.
  • Ability to understand track geometry testing/defects including defect verification in track.
  • Learn to calibrate and operate on-board TrackSTAR computer systems.
  • Ability to read drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to calibrate hand tools and record in CMMS system
  • Assist shop, TS maintenance team during maintence PM's & downtime of STAR units.
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to walk on uneven ground.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Able to work in confined spaces under and around equipment.
  • Able to work varying shifts.
  • Ability to climb a steep ladder frequently.
  • Ability to travel via ground, air and rail up to 100%

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  • Exposure on a regular basis to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Exposure to grease and dirt conditions.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Exposure to railroad operating conditions (PPE Required).

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivelant
  • Some computer skills helpful.
  • Good math skills and ability to read and work with graphs.
  • Intermediate mechanical skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Excellent customer relation skills.
  • Must have good organizational and paperwork skills.
  • Must possess or be able to secure an class A or B license and abide by our Corporate Fleet Policy
  • Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment testing required by Holland L.P.
