Job description

Primary responsibilities include ability to splice/test/repair cables/wires in both indoor and outdoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing diagrams, Improve upon the performance ,functionality, reliability, or quality of existing products or trade processes; maintain activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), and taking splicing field notes.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing of cable
  • Develop new, improved, or technologically advanced products or trade processes
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation
  • Basic daily maintenance of provided vehicle: check fluids, clean and organize vehicle
  • Self-supervise all operations to ensure that all splicing operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
  • Safely operate and use bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments as needed (potentially climb poles)
  • Field train and control/oversee the work of other Splicer’s when necessary.
  • Complete daily production reports, mark-up maps, keep track of work hours, complete "as-built maps" for areas built and track daily production
  • Reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure accurate material usage counts.
  • Frequently work independently
  • Other splicing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:                                  

  • Ability to read and build from blueprints and/or wire diagrams
  • Ability to distinguish colors
  • Ability to design, construct and develop plant systems
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test
  • Possess a valid driver’s license (class "C" minimum) or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position (possibly class "B" - light commercial)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber
  • OSP telecommunication construction experience; cable experience
  • Experience in splicing, balancing, and documenting CATV systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions
