As part of the university, the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center is a federally funded center that operates exemplary elementary and secondary education programs for deaf and hard of hearing students as well as national outreach programs which develop and disseminate innovative curricula, instructional techniques, and products nationwide, and provide information, training, and technical assistance to parents and professionals serving children from birth through age 21.

Summary:
The Assistant Coach's primary responsibility is to assist/provide support to the MSSD Track & Field Head Coach with the development and implementation of an exemplary athletic program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student-athlete.
Job Description:
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Facilitate the improvement and development of athletic skills and team performance for Track & Field student-athletes.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Head Coach in their absence, ensuring seamless operation of team activities.
  • Stay updated on new trends, ideas, and techniques in track & field coaching.
  • Promote the value of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Develop training programs and game plans for the team.
  • Ensure all athletic activities adhere to the regulations set forth by DCSAA, PVAC, and NDIAA.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies and regulations.
  • Monitor student-athlete eligibility and adherence to training and behavior standards.
  • Establish and communicate team rules to players and parents, ensuring fair enforcement.
  • Adhere to supervising student-athletes, emergency protocols, the student code of conduct, and safety protocols across all activities, including but not limited to locker room and bus safety, to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Promptly report any injuries and incidents, including but not limited to discrimination, bullying, harassment, and hazing, to Athletic Coordinators and Athletic Director.
  • Communicate effectively with every member of the school district and community.
  • Cultivate positive public relations for the Track & Field program through program development, presentations, and media communication.
  • Work effectively with the team in fundraising efforts to earn funds for travel, food, sports attire, and equipment.
  • React productively to change and handle other assigned tasks.
  • Support the value of education.
  • Support the philosophy and vision of the MSSD Athletics Department.
  • Attend mandatory MSSD Coaches Orientation and Sports Awards Banquet.
  • Adhere to district health and safety policies at all times.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Shows a genuine commitment to community engagement and belonging in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.
  • Serves as a mandatory reporter under Title IX; and commits to completing Title IX training and other compliance requirements on an annual basis.
  • Prioritizes safety in the workplace as a collective responsibility for the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of safety that is integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents.
