Position Summary:This position is responsible for coaching student-athletes in proper techniques and strategies so that they may develop a higher level of skill to utilize in athletic track competition.ย  This position motivates student-athletes to develop an appreciation for the sport and the discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork involved in track.


Reports To: Head Track Coach

Knowledge, Skills & Implementation:

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of track & field including proper techniques to improve skill and performance
  • Assess skills to select members of the team
  • Work with students and establish goals for improvement
  • Develop practice schedule and organize practices to provide both individual development and team building
  • Work with Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices
  • Follow established procedures for uniforms and equipment
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation.

Instructional Leadership

  • Work with athletes during practices and events
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior and provide proper supervision of students at all time
  • Monitor academic performance of student members ensure eligibility requirements
  • Attend in-service training and staff meetings as needed
  • Inspect facilities and athletic course
  • Supervise athletic events as needed
  • Enforce rules of the team, including those regarding tardiness, missed practices and/or games, or sportsmanlike conduct

Qualifications& Requirements

  • Meet State and District requirements as an athletic coach
  • Model sport-like behavior and maintain appropriate professional conduct by being a positive role model
