A Toy Engineer is responsible for designing, prototyping, and testing toys to ensure they are fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate. They work with materials, electronics, and mechanics to create engaging products for children of different age groups. Toy Engineers collaborate with designers, marketers, and safety experts to bring ideas to life while meeting industry regulations and safety standards.
Toy Engineers typically spend their days developing new toy concepts, creating prototypes, and testing products to ensure they meet safety and quality standards. They work closely with teams of designers, marketers, and manufacturers to refine ideas and address production challenges. Daily tasks often include using CAD software for design, conducting materials research, managing project timelines, and problem-solving to improve toy functionality or safety. Collaboration and clear communication are vital, as projects often require input from various departments and external suppliers.
A Toy Engineer should possess a solid background in mechanical or industrial engineering, design principles, and material science, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with 3D modeling software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD, rapid prototyping methods, and safety regulation certifications such as ASTM or EN71 is common. Creative thinking, problem-solving, and strong communication abilities are essential soft skills for collaborating with designers, marketers, and manufacturers. These competencies ensure toys are safe, engaging, manufacturable, and meet legal as well as consumer expectations.

Company Description
Farsyt is an AI-native insurance services company reimagining how insurance is bought, sold and operated -- using automation, data and AI from the ground up.
Small team, high ownership, fast pace, venture-backed. This role is for someone who wants to take real ownership, move quickly, and build systems that matter.
Role Description
You’ll work closely with the founders and early engineers to build core product systems from the ground up.
Build and ship backend systems (APIs, services, data models)
Develop AI-powered workflows that replace manual operations
Integrate with external systems (carrier tools, documents, communication layers)
Build automation pipelines using LLMs and modern AI tooling
Work on asynchronous systems (queues, workers, long-running tasks)
Ship quickly — from idea → production in days, not months
You won’t just be handed tickets — you’ll be expected to understand problems deeply and help shape solutions.
Qualifications
1+ years of experience building production systems
Strong backend fundamentals (we use Python)
Comfortable working with APIs, databases, and cloud environments
Ability to learn quickly and operate in a fast-moving environment
Experience or strong interest in modern AI systems (LLMs, RAG, agents)
Solid engineering fundamentals (debugging, data modeling, system design)
Good product instincts — you care about what you’re building and why
Bonus:
Experience with asynchronous systems (Celery, Redis, cron jobs)
Production experience with LLM-based applications or automation workflows
Familiarity with fintech, insurance, or regulated environments
We care more about how you think and learn than the exact tools you’ve used.
Technical Stack
Python (Django/DRF, FastAPI), React/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, AWS, Gemini/OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, Pydantic AI/LangChain, Docker
You don’t need experience with everything here, but you should be comfortable working in production systems and picking up new tools quickly.
The Team
You’d be joining the founding technical team, with direct input into what gets built and how. The people who join now will shape the company in ways that won’t be possible later.
Why this role?
You’ll be one of the first engineers — your decisions will shape the company
Direct access to founders, no layers
Real problems, not toy demos
A massive, outdated industry ready to be rebuilt
Compensation
Competitive salary & equity
