What You’ll Do 

As a House Supervisor Registered Nurse, you’ll eport to the Director/Manager and serve as an administrative resource for all staff and Managers during evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. You’ll make administrative decisions that directly affect patient care in various areas and provide direction for problem-solving activities. You ensure that there is adequate functioning of the various departments within the hospital and serve as a representative of the Nursing areas and act as a liaison with other departments.  

House Supervisor RN Job Responsibilities 

  • Oversee patient care activities and staff support during assigned shift. 

  • Act as primary resource for policies, procedures, and crisis management. 

  • Monitor units, resolve issues, and ensure effective patient care outcomes. 

  • Coordinate patient placement and bed management; maintain appropriate staffing levels. 

  • Communicate critical updates to administrators, managers, and staff. 

  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements. 

  • Investigate patient/family concerns and escalate as needed. 

  • Collaborate across departments to optimize patient flow and service delivery. 

  • Supervise transport, environmental services, and bed management workflows. 

  • Utilize technology (Cerner, Teletracking) for accurate admissions and transfers. 

  • Support staff training and orientation; promote continuous improvement. 

  • Participate in committees, meetings, and process improvement initiatives. 

  • Maintain knowledge through continuing education and literature review. 

  • Deliver excellent customer service and foster team communication. 

What You Bring 

You bring a thorough knowledge of Nursing care practices, policies, procedures and techniques in order to function as a resource to staff in the review and evaluation of the quality of care provided and in communication of pertinent feedback.  You demonstrate analytical skills necessary to prioritize a large volume of information, relay information to the appropriate people and make independent judgments and decisions involving complex patient care, staff, physicians and/or family/visitor situations.  You have the leadership skills necessary to coordinate activities of staff.  You bring well-developed interpersonal skills necessary to represent Memorial and Beacon Health System in a professional manner and effectively interact with and motivate team members.  You demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; also must be able to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, sometimes under stressful conditions, with people from a variety of backgrounds. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree 

  • A current RN license in Indiana 

  • 5-7 years of progressively more responsible job-related experience 

  • CPR certification 

  • Experience in a critical care area is preferred 

  • ACLS certification is preferred
