What is a tour?

Tours jobs involve planning, organizing, and leading guided experiences for groups or individuals to various destinations. People in these roles, such as tour guides or tour managers, provide information about the places visited, ensure the safety and comfort of participants, and handle logistics like transportation and scheduling. They play a key role in enhancing travelers' experiences by sharing local history, culture, and interesting facts. Tours jobs can be found in travel agencies, museums, historic sites, and with adventure companies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tour guide, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tour Guide, you need in-depth knowledge of local history and culture, strong storytelling abilities, and often a relevant tourism or hospitality qualification. Familiarity with booking software, audio equipment, and sometimes foreign language proficiency or guiding certifications are typically required. Outstanding communication, adaptability, and interpersonal skills help tour guides engage diverse groups and handle unexpected situations. These skills are essential for delivering memorable experiences, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining safety throughout tours.

What are some common challenges faced by tour guides, and how can they be addressed?

Tour guides often face challenges such as managing diverse group dynamics, adapting to last-minute changes in itineraries, and handling unexpected situations like bad weather or transportation delays. Effective communication, flexibility, and thorough preparation are key to overcoming these challenges. Building strong local knowledge and staying calm under pressure help tour guides ensure a positive experience for guests, even when things don’t go as planned.

Job description

You've earned your CDL. Now put it to work somewhere worth driving.

At Timi's Tours, our Motorcoach Operators don't just move people from point A to point B, they're the reason guests come back. You'll travel to premier destinations across the country, represent a company that's genuinely proud of its team, and do it all behind the wheel of a modern, well-maintained coach.

We're a small, family-owned operation, and that means you're never just a driver number. Management knows your name, dispatch has your back, and when you need time at home, we work with you to make it happen.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll operate luxury motorcoaches on a wide variety of runs, including:

  • Airport transfers and corporate travel
  • Day tours and multi-day excursions
  • Sports team transportation (collegiate, minor league, and high school)
  • Weddings, private charters, and special events

Every trip is different. That variety is part of what makes this job worth doing.

The Equipment

We operate a modern, late-model fleet. Clean, safe, and well-maintained, every time. We take pride in what we put on the road, and we expect our operators to as well.

Schedule & Availability

Full-Time operators typically work 3–4 days per week, with the opportunity to pick up more when you want it.

Part-Time operators have the flexibility to accept or decline trips with no penalty, work when it fits your life.

Live outside of the area? Ask us about commuter benefits. We recruit the best regardless of where home base is.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation
  • Uniforms provided
  • Hotel accommodations and per diem on overnight runs
  • A schedule built around your life, not the other way around
  • Drive Your Level Up — our tiered driver rewards program (Emerald, Ruby, Diamond) recognizes tenure, performance, and commitment with increasing benefits and perks
  • A team culture that drivers consistently describe as family — not just a talking point, but something we work to earn every day

"I’ve been with the company for three years now and they are by far the best I’ve ever worked for, very blessed to be a part of the team!”

"Great place to work, treat you like family, great equipment to drive, work as much as you want with great trips to great destinations all over America. Great pay, insurance, I'm sure there are other companies to work for, but this is a growing company and only getting better, that's why I would recommend working for this company.”

What We're Looking For

You're an experienced commercial driver who takes pride in safe, professional operation. You're reliable, self-directed, and comfortable working independently, while knowing that support is always available when you need it.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 25 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • U.S. citizen or permanent visa holder
  • Valid Class B CDL (or higher) with Passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction
  • Clean driving record:
    • No more than 2 moving violations in the past 12 months
    • No major accidents, reckless driving, DUI, or DWI
    • No license suspensions or revocations within the past 5 years
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical
  • Must successfully complete a company road test

Ready to Drive With Us?

We'd love to connect you with one of our current drivers for a candid conversation about life on the road at Timi's Tours. No sales pitch,  just a real talk from someone who's been in your seat.

Apply today and let's find out if we're the right fit for each other.
