Job description

Miranda Creative brings the energy of a startup with the confidence of experience. Since 1988, we've helped more than 6,000 clients across many industries including finance, hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, tourism, and government move their brands forward. We're a full service, New England-based marketing and design agency, and a highly inclusive, pet-friendly, coffee-inspired, collaborative community built on creativity, transparency, and joy.

About the Role

As Miranda Creative has grown, so has our need for dedicated HR support. This newly created HR Generalist role (part-time) is part of that investment. Reporting directly to our Founder/CEO, you'll be the first point of contact for HR questions across the team, running the day-to-day people operations that keep our agency moving, from recruiting and onboarding to payroll, benefits, and compliance.

This isn't a role where you'll just process paperwork. You'll help candidates feel welcomed from their first interview, help new hires feel set up for success on day one, and help our current team feel supported at every stage of the employee experience. If you like variety, move easily between detail work and people work, and want real ownership over how HR runs at a growing creative agency, this is built for you.

Key Responsibilities

ย ย ย  Recruiting Administration: Manage the full recruiting cycle: posting roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, checking references, and building a pipeline of passive talent

ย ย ย  Onboarding & Offboarding: Coordinate onboarding and offboarding from start to finish, including HRIS setup, compliance paperwork, IT provisioning, and training tracking; manage the employee lifecycle and exit processes, including final pay and account deactivation

ย ย ย  Payroll & HRIS Administration: Process payroll and serve as the primary contact for our payroll system, Rippling, including tax filings, PTO accuracy, and retirement contributions

ย ย ย  Benefits Administration: Serve as the go-to liaison for all benefit providers, from open enrollment to day-to-day employee questions

ย ย ย  Compliance & Leave Administration: Administer leave of absence requests, and monitor multi-state employment law compliance

ย ย ย  Performance Management: Coordinate our bi-annual review cycles, including peer reviews, self-assessments, and summary reporting

ย ย ย  Employee Relations: Assist managers with day-to-day employee relations questions and documentation

ย ย ย  Employee Records & Reporting: Maintain personnel files, org charts, and compensation reporting, including quarterly Total Compensation statements

ย ย ย  Team Culture & Policy: Support internal communications and culture initiatives, and help with ongoing HR related projects and initiatives

Schedule & Compensation

This is a part-time, in-office position, 20-25 hours per week. $35-$45 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

ย ย ย  3-6 years of progressive HR generalist experience

ย ย ย  Working knowledge of Connecticut employment law; multi-state exposure a plus

ย ย ย  HRIS platform experience (Rippling experience preferred)

ย ย ย  Payroll and benefits administration experience

ย ย ย  Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential employee information

ย ย ย  Strong written and verbal communication skills

ย ย ย  Strong analytical skills and proven ability to adopt and work effectively with a variety of technology platforms

ย ย ย  Highly responsive with strong follow-through

ย ย ย  Strong team orientation and a customer service mindset in supporting employees at every level

Benefits

As a part-time employee, you will be eligible for paid time off, including generous holidays, and a pro-rated professional development stipend.
