Trolley Driver/Tour Guide

This position must have a good sense of fun and a desire to entertain and excellent driving skills as they drive a trolley on busy public streets while narrating a sightseeing tour multiple times a work shift. Tour Conductors bring to life the history of America and all of the positive things that it represents.

Have fun driving an Old Town Trolley and sharing the history of our region entertaining visitors while educating them about historic Savannah!

Requirements:

Essential Functions

  • Drive in a safe, competent manner a non-air-conditioned trolley on busy public streets while entertaining guests by narrating a scripted sightseeing tour
  • Meet and deal with the general public and diverse company employees in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via the radio while maintaining a professional and pleasant composure
  • Maintain radio contact with dispatch during tours
  • Perform an interior and exterior physical inspection of the vehicle daily and accurately complete the departmental documents/forms for inspection

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Tour Guides must be able to drive a non-air-conditioned vehicle, on a busy public street in a safe, competent manner while entertaining guests by narrating a scripted sightseeing tour.
  • Must be able to board and exit the trolley and assist guests with boarding and exiting the trolley.
  • Must pass annual Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR) checks
  • Ability to learn and memorize scripted tours and routes as assigned.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate with fellow employees, the general public, law enforcement and emergency personnel.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must pass a DOT physical upon employment
  • Must have a valid Driverโ€™s License with an acceptable and verifiable driving record of at least three years

  • Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing
  • Must pass a DOT physical upon employment
