Touch Freight information

What are the typical physical requirements and daily responsibilities for a Touch Freight position?

Touch Freight positions involve hands-on handling of freight, which includes regularly loading and unloading goods from trucks, sometimes multiple times per shift. You will be expected to lift, carry, and move packages or products that can range from light to heavy weights, often using manual equipment like dollies or pallet jacks. Daily tasks may also include inspecting the cargo for damage, ensuring proper securement, and maintaining paperwork or digital logs. Being comfortable with physical work and adhering to safety protocols is essential, as the job environment can be fast-paced and team-oriented.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Touch Freight position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Touch Freight role, you need physical stamina, safe lifting techniques, and experience in operating hand trucks, pallet jacks, or forklifts, often paired with a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL). Familiarity with route planning apps, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and proper cargo securement methods is valuable. Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills set candidates apart in this position. These skills are vital for ensuring accurate, timely, and safe delivery of goods, while maintaining positive client interactions and complying with workplace safety standards.
