Job description

About the Company
Anza is a revolutionary platform that empowers solar and energy storage equipment buyers and developers to use advanced data and technology to compare more products and make confident decisions faster. The result is increased profit, reduced risk, and massive time-saving. With Anza, clients can focus on higher-value work without chasing down data or using manual tools. They can access real-time pricing and extensive technical, trade risk, counterparty, and contract term data from 95% of the U.S. module supply. Anza's Effective $/Watt analytics enable users to evaluate modules based on production and installation costs. It provides energy storage lifecycle cost analytics across AC and DC battery systems. Anza's vision is to help every utility-scale and DG buyer and developer make optimal design and procurement decisions.
Anza was born from internal tools at Borrego that maximized the financial value of its own projects. In 2021, Anza launched as a standalone application for broader industry use, furthering the company's mission of accelerating the deployment of renewable energy.
At Anza, we don't accept the status quo. We are driven by a culture of teamwork, a growth mindset and continuous improvement as we pursue our mission. Since its inception, we have surpassed our growth goals and are looking forward to continuing to build a great team and platform. We believe in having an ownership company culture, so we have implemented an attractive equity program. Join us!
About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll design and build well-considered technical solutions across our full stack. You'll take ambiguous, complex requirements and turn them into shippable, maintainable software - owning features end to end from design through production.
We're a growing company in a fast-moving industry, which means priorities shift, systems evolve, and the most valuable engineers are the ones who treat that as the job rather than a disruption. You'll raise the bar for engineering quality through your code, your reviews, and your influence on how we build.
The problems are genuinely hard: helping customers instantly compare and optimize across a vast space of solar and storage products demands thoughtful architecture and careful modeling. We're cloud native (GCP), and our stack is TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL. We care deeply about developer experience and invest extensively in CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code. We expect our senior engineers to have demonstrated experience with some or all of this stack - and to be unafraid of the parts they haven't touched yet.
How We Build
We use LLMs heavily across our engineering workflows but we don't defer our thinking to the robots. The engineers who thrive here have embraced agentic engineering as a force multiplier while maintaining a deep, first-principles understanding of the code they ship. We're looking for a lead who can set that bar; someone who knows when to let the tools accelerate them and when the judgment has to be their own.
What You'll Do
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, designers, QA, and other engineers to define pragmatic technical solutions within our agile process
  • Own the design, implementation, and delivery of significant features and services that solve real business challenges
  • Write high-quality, thoroughly tested code, deliver well-considered Pull Requests, and contribute to scalable, maintainable architecture
  • Champion technically sound and well-designed product decisions that meet our customers' needs and contribute to the overall health of the platform

What You'll Bring
While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes:
  • 5+ years of hands on technical experience
  • 3+ years of Node.js and React experience (Typescript)
  • Strong knowledge of relational data modeling, API design, and software architecture
  • Experience developing cloud native applications (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • A flexible, adaptable mindset - comfortable pivoting quickly when direction or approach changes, and energized rather than intimidated by touching systems you didn't build
  • A pragmatic bias toward shipping: you weigh trade-offs, pick the solution that fits the moment, and avoid over-engineering

Compensation & Benefits
Anza uses an internally equitable and externally competitive total cash approach to compensation. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, health, life, and disability insurance; a comprehensive wellness program; 401(k) plan with company match and immediate vesting; continuing education and professional development assistance; and self-managed flexible work schedules and time-off policies.
Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
Anza provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, disability, genetics, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by state, federal and local laws. In addition to federal law requirements, Anza complies with applicable state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment in every location in which the company has facilities. EEO M/F/D/V.
A Note to Third-Party Recruiters
Anza's team coordinates all recruiting and hiring at our company. Anza does not accept unsolicited resumes from third-party recruiters, staffing firms, or related agencies. Resumes are only accepted from third-party recruiters, staffing firms, or related agencies if a signed agreement is in place AND if external recruiting assistance is authorized by the Anza team for a specific position. All unsolicited resumes will be considered the property of Anza. Anza is not responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes.
The pay range for this role is:
135,000 - 175,000 USD per year (Portland, OR)
