Job description

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon's discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.
Position
The Senior Director, Total Rewards will lead the strategy, design, governance, and execution of Eikon's Total Rewards programs, including compensation, equity, benefits, and recognition. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this highly visible leader will partner closely with Executive Leadership, the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors, Finance, Legal, and Human Resources to ensure our programs attract, retain, and motivate exceptional talent while supporting our business strategy, culture, and responsibilities as a newly public company. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced Total Rewards leader who can balance strategic thinking with operational excellence. The Senior Director will build upon Eikon's strong foundation while continuing to evolve our compensation and benefits programs, governance, and infrastructure to support a growing, clinical-stage biotechnology organization.
About You
You are an experienced Total Rewards leader with deep expertise across compensation, executive compensation, equity, benefits, and rewards governance. You are equally comfortable developing strategy, working through complex compensation analyses, advising senior executives, and preparing materials for a Compensation Committee. You understand the unique requirements of operating in a public company environment and can translate complex data, market practices, and regulatory considerations into clear recommendations and practical solutions. You are a collaborative and hands-on leader who enjoys developing strong teams, building scalable programs, and partnering across HR, Finance, Legal, and the business.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and evolve Eikon's Total Rewards strategy to support business objectives, talent priorities, and a high-performance culture, while leading and developing an experienced Total Rewards team.
  • Design and oversee broad-based and executive compensation programs, including base salary, incentives, equity, recognition, and annual compensation planning.
  • Own and evolve compensation architecture, including salary structures, job levels, career frameworks, market-pricing methodologies, pay equity, and pay transparency practices.
  • Lead equity compensation strategy, program design, and governance, partnering with Legal, Finance, and Stock Administration on administration and compliance.
  • Partner with the CPO, Finance, Legal, and the Compensation Committee on executive compensation, equity and incentive design, and related analyses, recommendations, proxy disclosures, and SEC reporting.
  • Lead the strategy, design, and administration of health and welfare, retirement, wellbeing, and leave programs, including management of brokers, consultants, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Ensure Total Rewards programs and practices comply with applicable SEC, SOX, IRS, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the Total Rewards technology, reporting, and analytics roadmap, including SuccessFactors and compensation planning tools, to improve data quality, program effectiveness, and decision-making.
  • Partner closely with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to provide Total Rewards guidance supporting workforce planning, organizational growth, and hiring decisions, while delivering clear communications that help leaders and employees understand Eikon's programs and philosophy.
Qualifications
  • Postgraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, or related discipline with 12+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's plus 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Progressive Total Rewards experience, ideally within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or another high-growth environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team of Total Rewards professionals.
  • Experience working in both private and public company environments, including direct Compensation Committee support.
  • Deep expertise across compensation strategy, executive compensation, equity programs, benefits, job architecture, and public company compensation governance.
  • Strong working knowledge of SEC/SOX requirements, relevant tax considerations, and applicable benefits regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, and ADA.
  • Strong executive presence and demonstrated ability to translate complex data and Total Rewards topics into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership and Board audiences; advanced Excel and HRIS/compensation planning system experience required.
  • CCP and/or CEP designation, experience supporting a clinical-stage biotechnology company through post-IPO growth, and SAP SuccessFactors experience preferred.

At Eikon, employee compensation also includes bonus and equity compensation, in addition to several generous benefit programs, including:
  • 401k plan with company matching
  • Medical (premiums covered by Eikon at 95%), dental and vision insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%)
  • Mental health and wellness benefits
  • Weeklong summer and winter holiday shutdowns
  • Generous paid time off and holiday policies
  • Life/AD&D Insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%) and optional supplemental employee-paid life/AD&D policies
  • Enhanced parental leave benefit
  • Daily subsidized lunch program when on-site

The expected salary range for this role is $257,000 to $309,750 depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.
Eikon is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment.
We are currently not accepting any new third-party agencies or firms at this time. Please do not forward unsolicited agency resumes to our website, employees or Human Resources. Eikon Therapeutics will not pay fees to any third-party agency or firm associated with unsolicited resumes.
