Job description

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Quality Engineer III to provide software testing, data collection and analysis, subject matter expertise, and mentorship supporting the execution of a large size, multi-year contract to the Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army (IPPS-A) Army Military Payroll (AMP). The Quality Engineer III will conduct quality testing on the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) deliverables to ensure required capability for the Army client. The Quality Engineer III will be responsible for assessing software functionality through both manual and if necessary, automated testing. The Quality Engineer III will gather and compile test metric data. Using this data, they may draft reports on the functionality of the software for AMP and may distribute these reports to the Quality Engineer IV and to other senior managers. These reports may also be delivered to the Army client. The Quality Engineer III should be comfortable working in an agile environment, resolving complex problems if and when they arise. Collaboration with the various Agile Teams will be a common aspect of the position, and the Quality Engineer III should be comfortable with data sharing and information sharing across teams. As a senior engineer, mentorship of junior staff-members may also be part of this position, and the Quality Engineer III should be willing to coach team members across the AMP program.

  • Reviews software requirements and specifications to develop and execute testing strategies for a product or release. 
  • Develops reusable test functions or components. 
  • Executes manual and potentially automated tests to assess software functionality and performance using multiple systems, platforms, environments, or browsers. 
  • Identifies, logs, and track defects. 
  • Reports technical issues to development or product management teams and verifies fixes. 
  • Performs work under minimal supervision. 
  • Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. 
  • Possesses solid working knowledge of Quality Engineering processes. 
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. 
  • May act as a lead or first-level supervisor. 

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years of experience within the federal government, DoD, Army, or IC and/or private sector preferred. Must have experience with Software Testing applications such as Azure Dev Ops (ADO), Tricentis Tosca, ALM, PeopleSoft, Workday, or other ERP experience a plus. 

Skills/Qualifications: Certifications in IAT Level II and SAFe for Teams preferred. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Needs great interpersonal/communication skills. Able to translate customer requirements to team goals. 

Clearance Requirements: This position requires a current Secret clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen. 

Work Location: Hybrid work situation (2 in-office days per week). 

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $105,000.00 to $152,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
